The Songkran festival is an annual festival in Thailand that takes place on April 13 – April 15. The date was not always fixed, it was once determined by the position of the stars. Songkran 2013 coincides with the hottest day of the whole year in Thailand. It used to mark the beginning of the year before Thailand using the Gregorian Calendar system.
