Japan is one of the most unique countries in the world both in terms of its society and culture. There are tons of Japan holidays and festivals in the country for locals and tourists to enjoy. Beware though that some Japanese festivals are not exactly family-frindly (i.e. Kanamara, Hadaka) so do your research before planning a visit. Some places in Japan that are a must-see for tourists are Mount Fuji, Shibuya, Tokyo Tower, Sapporo Snow Festival, and Shinjuku.

Travelling For Holidays in Japan in 2013
If you are planning on traveling to Japan within the next year, it is recommended that you do not travel during late December or early January since airports are extremely busy and hotels are overbooked during these days. Although Christmas is celebrated by some in Japan, it is not a national holiday like it is in the West so the travel is not quite as bad as it is in the West, but it is still the busiest time of the year. The best time to take holidays in Japan would probably have to be during the Spring, when it is not very busy, the weather is nice, and the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom.
